Album Review: CLIPSE - Till the Casket Drops 12/8/09

Clipse are back in the saddle with their first studio album since Hell Hath No Fury in 2006. I haven't been this excited about a Clipse record since the first time I heard 'Grinding' at the Shark Bar in Atlanta back in 2002. Clipse changed the Hip Hop game not only by being two of the dopest lyricist in the game, with their pioneered "Coke Rap", but they've also incorporated their own Virginia Beach swagger without jumping on the East Coast and Down South chart bandwagon.

This album shows versatility in the Clipse new sound by their tracks selection. Although a high percentage of the records were zapped by the Neptunes, there are other tracks by Hitmen producers Sean C & LV, and Super Producer DJ Khalil. This project promises appearances by Atlanta's own Keri Hilson, Yo Gotti, The "BOSS" Rick Ross, Pharrell, Ab-Liva, and Harlem World's native son Cam'ron.

When asked about diverting away from their pioneered "Coke Rap", in Hell Hath no Fury, Malice responds, "We were angry that's why that album was so dark". "Til the Casket drops is an actual depiction of where the Clipse are in our lives". Malice speaks a lot about lost friends, love ones, and the vulnerable subject of "fatherhood" in the new Album.

Some of the splashiest records on the project are "Popeyes" which features Cam'ron and my Summertime top back jawn, "I'm Good" featuring Pharrell. Get ready to press repeat on "Kinda Like a Big Deal" produced by DJ Khalil featuring Kanye West. "All Eyes on Me" featuring Keri Hilson may be an Atlanta Gentlemen's Club banger, so fellas get your stacks ready.

The Clipse drops on the same day with Down South heavy hitter Gucci Mane which means the #1 & #2 spot on Billboard charts will be claimed by one of these albums. Do yourself a favor and go out and support DMV music, cop the CLIPSE today!!!!
