"LOOKIE Looky... is the record that has been ringing in my head all day while prepping for the D.C. Don Juan interview. Not only is the vibe infectious, but very good for Hip Hop" ~ Don Ghotti
The city of DC has something to definitely poke it's chest out for and his name is D.C. DON JUAN!
Born Maurice Campbell Jr. 23, in the hip hop Mecca, Bronx NY, and raised on the hard streets of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area, Most Juanted has seen and experienced it all. When asked of his music aspirations as a child, Don states "My uncle used to be a rapper himself by the name of Wild Child and I'm very close to my mother and being as though that's my mother's youngest brother I was very closed to him, so everything he would do I would mimic". At the tender age of 9 years old, his uncle would write him rhymes and he would then go and recite them, being a rapper in his own mind.
At the beginning of high school Don and his family moved to the Maryland, Capital Heights area with intentions of escaping the gritty city life and to give him a fresh start in a new environment. Don was the new kid on the block, therefore he kept his rap talent that he'd learned from his uncle as a hobby. Once he moved deeper into the Capitol Heights area and got more acquainted with more people, Don unleashed his world wind of talents on his peers and became widely accepted around the city.
Though heavily influenced by the DC Go Go scene, Don Juan bestows a lyrical East Coast flow that can be heard in records like 'Welcome to my Block' but also has a southern sound on my favorite record 'Lookie Looky'. He's already penned lyrics to tracks from Super Producers Mike City, Chucky Thompson, and as I hear through the grapevine Dr Dre!
When speaking of the DC Movement, Don explains "Everything is based on timing and GOD shines the light on everybody that's patient". Mr. Most Juanted also speaks of his work ethic and boasts his catalog of over 4000+ complete records. "I don't like to hang out and chill, I like to hang in the studio...my work ethic is CRAZY".
Don Juan can be seen in the VIPs of LOVE, Lotus, Ibiza in DC spewing his message of "Look at Me" and "I'm in Love with Myself". "When you hear LOOKIE LOOKY, I'm not the one that's conceited, I'm not an arrogant ***hole, I want you to be in Love with Yourself when you hear that song. When you hit any obstacles, as long as you're in Love with Yourself you will have enough strength to retry and get over that obstacle". When asked how this message was perceived by his haters, he states "I tell my team daily, don't worry about the haters, if they're hating on you we're doing everything correctly. It's when they're not hating on you is when you have to reevaluate yourself."
Don Juan has been endorsed by Big names like DJ Heat, Big Tigger, Allen "A.I." Iverson, Carmello Anthony, etc. In closing Don Juan has such an infectious and warm spirit supported by lyrics that embody self love, positivity, and an energy matched by very few in this superficial industry I know upon his official January 12th release, the world will endorse D.C. DON JUAN too!
He's truly the TALK OF DC
